Where in the world is Dimitri?

If you were curious about where you were spending so many mornings, check out this image and see if you can identify Sam's. If you haven't played with Google Earth yet, I highly recommend it. It is a free download at http://earth.google.com/. You can type in an address or famous landmark anywhere in the world, as well as view fantastic images from space. Try it!

Talked with Dimitri this a.m. He did not know much about getting on the blog. Since he knows another language, I asked him to put a Russian word on the blog each Sunday with English translation. We might be able to learn the word for bagel and go from there. This sould make us very cosmopolitan. He just shrugged. I don't think he thought much of the idea. This needs to be pursued. We could run our own little state department here and improve foreign relations.

Perhaps Dimitri is worried that blogspot.com won't show Russian characters correctly.

Let's give it a try: the online dictionary rustran.com lists the Russian word for bagel as БУБЛИК.

just learned something new. I have no foreign language capability on my computer. Will have to do something about that. I found the rustran.com site, but did not see any help in saying the word. Maybe Dimitri can help us with correct sound if we can supply the words.

went to rustran again and found some difference in spelling. was able to copy Russian letters so my computer will handle that.

1. Dr. Mike found -

the online dictionary rustran.com lists the Russian word for bagel as БУБЛИК.

2. Pat went to the same web site and found -

Translation: BAGEL
N БАРАНКА; БУБЛИК

We need to talk to Demetri, and then again he may not recognize any of it.
